"They replaced electric buses with diesel buses in Milwaukee in 1960.
The price of diesel was 31 cents a gallon.
The fossil fuel industry also spent millions convincing cities that electric buses were old fashioned and the routes could be changed easily if they switched to diesel.
Once people got a good wiff of diesel fuel they wised they had those electric buses and streetcars back. Too late. Mobil forgot to mention air pollution."
Rails and over head wires are too expensive. They have natural gas buses now, anyway.
