This activity is of course a violation of the Clean Water Act. Of course they received a dispensation for that. My reference to mining town was not literal but in the sense that mining leaves behind a wasteland. With frakking you can't see it but it is still there. As with all extractive industries it is exploit and move on leaving the wastes behind. In this regard Frakking is not different than 19 century hydraulic mining. What will this mean to future generations? No one knows especially the frakkers. So will we be poisoning the ground waters of the shale formations and leaving a mess behind for future generations that may need the water?
